Where to download MP3 music for SanDisc player?

I just got a SanDisc MP3 player, and I am told that I can’t download any iPod music to it as it can’t read those files. I can completely new and pretty clueless when it comes to MP3 players, and am hoping someone can recommend a good site with a huge selection that I can download music from (that will be compatible with my MP3 player.) I am told most sites charge about 99 cents per song, although I am more interested in downloading albums. Anyone?
